Over the years, Grupo Martinón Grumasa has developed a deep respect for environmental conservation and energy resources. The hotels establish systems that involve energy, water, waste, etc. during their operation. Therefore, as small communities they can successfully apply management plans for electricity, fuel, reducing emissions to the atmosphere, water, garbage, areas for the conservation of flora and fauna, etc.
In their hotels, Grupo Martinón Grumasa has relied on automatic control systems for many years, centralizing the use of large energy consumers and therefore using it more efficiently. It has been customary to build sewage treatment plants associated with the hotels in order to provide proper sewage treatment, to be then used later for irrigation. The separation of waste into different categories simplifies the subsequent reuse and recycling of paper and cardboard, glass and plastic ... Part of the organic debris and material from pruning and cleaning gardens is used to make simple compost fertilizers. In the developments the garden areas coexist with conservation areas, where the species of flora and fauna of the original ecosystem are maintained, they can be found from the coastal dune to the mangrove.
From project conception, through the construction phase, until the final operation, environmental guidelines and energy efficiency are considered and respected. Building orientation, shading, envelope materials, insulation, transport and use of energy, applied technology, etc., are the subject of discussion points throughout the projects existence. To ensure the success of this integration it is essential to work training and educating those involved, allocating the necessary staff and forces.
Aware of the ongoing changes and the depletion of global resources, Grupo Martinón Grumasa continues its line of continuous improvement on new projects. Taking advantage of technological advances and the hotels features the group is working on photovoltaic solar energy, natural gas, trigeneration, solar cooling, load shedding, power management projects etc.
Integration with the environment is possible and is a necessary commitment for the hotels with sustainable development as well as being an added attraction from the operational and commercial viewpoint. Improving the energy efficiency of operations, whether through training programs and working with staff or implementation of technology, allows us to optimize the use of some of the increasingly scarce and expensive resources. The combination of the two provides direct and indirect benefits in the short term to all the agents involved: society, tourists, businessmen, officials, etc. It is the path towards sustainability.
